Congratulations to my former neighbor, 82-year-old Vietnam Veteran Bob, for participating in the No Kings parade in Hollywood, FL. I am incredibly proud to call him a friend.

I Love

  • A fashion moment: AJLT ep.3 and the return of the KFC bucket. And here is where I stand: I have always been a SATC Carrie and Big fan with all the idiosyncrasies they came with, I recognize all the flaws of AJLT, I adore and love Danny Santiago, who styled the movies with Patricia Fields and AJLT with Molly Rogers. For those who are new here, I know him personally; he is a graduate of one of the universities where I taught, and I interviewed him for chapter four of the book. Do I think the new series is a stretch? Yes. Do I find the script too scripted? Yes, little creativity. But, I find comfort in the SATC references, because SJP owns her wardrobe and kept it in storage for decades.

  • My aesthetic summer edition: Julianne Moore’s hair color on Brune Buonomano’s haircut, SJP black nail polish on super short nails with Pamela Anderson no makeup. Also, please don’t come to me with the Euro Summer aesthetic because I could react in an annoying and patronizing way, and that would be on you.

Ashley New York sublime sartorial cuts
  • A moment for the screens: The Pitt

  • A beauty moment: a suggestion for mature skin, combine Vit. C serum + Azelaic acid, and thank me later.

  • Giving good Italian summer vibes

I Don’t Cares

  • First and foremost, this week we need to talk about the biopic of American royalty couple, JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy. And it’s in the I Don’t Cares for many reasons: the first stills appear to be a poor version of a Bershka catalogue with underpaid models. It’s Hyannisport but make it Calabasas: an impoverishing deplorable representation of a couple who prized their privacy with that class and elegance that is long lost. But, what can you expect from the same guy who produced the enactment of the assassination of Gianni Versace? Now you understand how cringey that was and why the family took their distance and stated their disapproval.

  • What is the Coastal Cowgirl now? Do I want to know? Didn’t we go too far?

  • The no, nos of AJLT ep.3 : the *dderal smuggling: DEPLORABLE; Aiden: once bad news always bad news (am I the only one thinking he is back with his wife living in the main house?); the club’s misfortunes of the coke situation and Charlotte’s husband pissing himself: AVOIDABLE! Los viejitos way past their bedtime is never a good idea.

The sustainability debrief

If I ask you what sustainable fashion is, do you know?

The vast majority of consumers have no idea what sustainable fashion is and there’s still a notable chunk of theorists who believe that sustainable fashion is an oxymoron. Yet, I have completed a master in sustainability leadership and teach to college and graduate students how to “design with the end of life in mind”. Sustainable development or practice is defined as one that meets the needs of the present without compromising the needs of future generations. If you include consumption in the linear take-make-throw fashion supply chain, it becomes circular. if you design with materials that respect the environment and are harmless for the bodies that will wear them, with practices that respect the lives of the garment workers, you’ll empower your clients to buy, keep, care, wear, mend clothing instead of disposing them in landfills as worthless.
