Love the shoes and the eyelet skirt, ditch that tattoo

It’s officially boobs, BBL, and toes-out season in Miami, the perfect subtropical habitat, which I would like to have the option to unsee. So, for those who critique my ubiquitous smoochy, mischievous Labubu creature, look the other way at your own risk.

Love

  • A fashion moment: my friends from Lessico Familiare are one of the four winners of the Camera Moda Fashion Trust 2025 Grant. I knew they were finalists and now they are winners. It gives me satisfaction for many reasons: that their talent was recognized by the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, that I still have a keen eye to scout and support new talent, that I own one of their capes and their publication, Abecedario, their own lessico (BTW, they are still in my brother’s closet in Milan, so if anyone is coming back from Italy will you let me know?). On a more illustrious note, they received the prize at Villa Necchi Campiglio with a speech by uno chic Farneti himself:

For a distinctive creative vision that reimagines traditional fashion codes with originality, for a collaborative design model that actively involves its community, for a thoughtful approach to sustainability, and a layered brand narrative that draws meaning from its very name and connects deeply with contemporary fashion.

BRAVI!

  • How the Labubu is the brat green of last summer. WP’s Shane O’Neill wrote about it in "Why a sweet, slightly sinister elf named Labubu is inescapable right now." And here I admit that I like mine so much that I even bought one for my daughter and one for her best friend, before it was a craze, and I only paid $25ish. I have never seen people so divided on a trend, and probably it’s because I don’t follow them, and I am never the recipient of critique or judgment; I am the one judging, like Fran Leibovitz. I am no Gen Z, I don’t follow trends, I am not a West Village girl, I have my own, personal, unique style, my closet is displayed by seasons and colors in a high/low assortment and I wrote a book for all those who wanted to know how to dress like an Italian. I prefer monochromatic and understated, I don’t own anything in polyester (except 2 pairs of leggings). We know I have a few designer bags, I almost exclusively buy second-hand (unless I relapse once in a while because nobody’s perfect FFS). I am lucky to have some uber-talented designer friends whom I enlist to manifest what I envision by upcycling what I have or by designing made-to-measure garments.

What do I do with a stuffed animal dangling from my bag?

    I disrupt.

Perfect is boring and uncool. Consider inserting something unexpected, like in kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by sealing the cracks with gold.

Let’s address meno belly for a sec, and how to disguise it and adapt your clothing to fit. And if I am losing half of my readers, forgive me, just skip down. Calling all my stylist friends here: my waist is almost back, but my belly is occupied by a colony of rent-free fibroids, like a battalion of Smurfs squatting there. So I found that the contrast cinched waist + pleats works best for me. But I am here for advice from the experts. Meanwhile, here is what I aspire to.

I need to achieve the mastery of the volumes and fit of these pants, the contrast with the pointy shoes.
Impeccable pajama glamour brought to you by the one and only Signora
  • A beauty moment: S33 serum from Spoiled Child is another win for my always dehydrated and thirsty face and neck.

  • A moment for the screen: I recommend both The Ultimate Showgirl starring Pamela Anderson, directed by Gia Coppola + Sirens on Netflix with Julianne Moore.

I don’t care

  • If you despise And Just Like That because I have always been a Carrie and still love Carrie 20 years after, I love Danny Santiago (he is a good friend), I know that the plot is bad and wonky, that Miranda will never catch a break, but life is hard, there are worst things in life like for example being a self-inflicted Bravo junkie, and THERE you see bad clothing. So, again, I consciously binge.

  • Tradwife: seriously, I don’t get it.

The sustainability debrief

The Indyx report is out and saying that it is INTERESTING is an understatement.

Long story short: we are broke, we live in a messed up world and we still shop. Too much clothes.

Some more tidbits, meanwhile just a reminder that knowing what you already own and how to style it is the most sustainable choice.
