Love

  • This is a Miu Miu total look, happy, cool, multi-layered, modern. However, the way I look at it is not aspirational, we don’t do trends, we don’t do compulsive buying of fast-fashion knockoffs, I am more interested (as you should too) in being inspired by it and dig in my closet for some similarities.

I believe that “a noteworthy moment cannot be mass-produced”, which is why styling for me is a ritual. - from The cannot do withouts

  • The perfect forchettata: the right ratio of spaghetti and sauce twisted on the fork. No spoon, we use no spoon to twist spaghetti, don’t let anyone fool you.

I don’t care

  • For loud people when on a stroll in Miami. Here’s the tea: before the heat becomes an unbearable hell for this menopausal woman, I decided to go for a walk with a very good friend. For full disclosure, she is a über talented designer, embroiderer, zero waste genius, upcycler extraordinaire, a fiber artist with multiple solo exhibitions in town at the moment, because those are the friends I have. We went window shopping, perused some stores from the outside, went in to look at some dresses, and by that I mean we touched, looked at the seams, inside construction, fabric, embroideries, lace, beads, ooohed and ahhhed, and chatted with sales associates. We hadn’t done that in a long time, and I was so down for it, except for THE PEOPLE. They let their kids scream and kick, they bump into you with no sign of remorse, they aimlessly dillydally, they take their calls on the speaker, they walk with red Solo cups.

  • For those garments and shoes in my closet that don’t suit the life I am actually living. THERE! I said it and wrote it in black and white, because it’s time for more decluttering.

The sustainability debrief

A blog moment: This is still a good starter for a second-hand beginner. Second-hand purchasing habits occupy a permanent and notably increasing space in fashion retail. I have noticed an interesting development: the girls from Thredup and TheRealReal have made their appearance on Substack. They closely study their market, notice their data trends, and probably we, on Substack, tend to buy second-hand. If that’s the case, I am a prime example. Thrifting and buying second-hand still have socioeconomic connotations and probably still need a bit of PR intervention, but nothing that storytelling cannot fix.

Look at the picture below: would you think that this is the owner of a unique and exquisite vintage/consignment store in Milan, and everything she wears is second-hand?

It all starts from the foundation of your closet. If you want the Italian way twist, for anyone who purchases a 1-year subscription, I am offering a 30-minute Google Meet closet visit.

For all my new followers and anyone who wants to chat, feel free to check out my style diary, my Instagram, and the book I wrote, waking up at 4 am for nine months, and self-published.
