Miami peeps: the invitation is still standing.

Nachos.
I had never eaten or ordered nachos until this weekend, because it’s Labor Day weekend, and you tend to be drawn to junk adjacent food. And so, 27 years in the US, I ventured into the nachos experience. The results are stunning, yet not surprising: There are many reasons why I had never had nachos before and why it will stay that way.
First: they require to be eaten with hands, and that is something I can’t do. I eat French fries with my hands (as one should) and dip them one at a time in ketchup, I do eat oysters and crabs with my hands, still reluctantly, but there’s a sense of control in all of the shellfish thing. I am that person who uses a fork and a knife to eat a burger (unless it’s Shake Shack) and a lobster roll.
Second: they are short-lived, as in the passage from crunchy to soggy is too fast, as they succumb to all those too many things dumped on top of them that make them look like a cold pile of leftovers.

Potato chips with caviar and sour cream. Better if enjoyed with my soundtrack

Welcome to September, when life starts again. Month n.8 (that is how much I despise the month that I cannot bring myself to pronounce its name, like n.45) lasted forever, brought us devastating fires, a destructive hurricane that is still at the letter “I” (for those not fluent in hurricane season, it means we haven’t even reached the halfway buoy of the potential storms named in alphabetical order), left us with a Mercury in Retrograde that is moodier that the old rich aunt that will survive everybody and leave her inheritance to her raccoons, and the last Blue Moon in years to come.

Ignore that you live in the tropics and heat and vapors will pester your life for a few more months. Instead indulge in:
Pumpkin Spice Lattes, a nap, prosecco in a champagne coupe, #nonewclothes month, temperature allowing for an extra spray of Patchouli perfume, corduroy, a goblet or two of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, cinnamon everything, porcini (in my dreams) and the most whimsical mushrooms from the Rustles from the Meadows store, dirty Martini, a felt hat, gin n’ tonic, grey sweater, pants, socks, and scarf, Fashion month, another nap.

This summer was tomato girl summer until it became strawberry glaze girl, yet I haven’t fallen in the IT girl’s sticky gloss, but gladly participated in a super exclusive/fun filled/colorful/energetic DEHIYA’s Lip + Cheek Tint new colors focus group. For those who aren’t in my close entourage, my DEHIYA’s must-haves are the Biru Balm and the Nymph Lip + Cheek Tint constants in my makeup bag. Now a surprisingly new orangey and a versatile almost camouflage pink will join the army.
A pair of white shoes and a white skirt just because of the “no white after Labor Day” BS and Mrs. Prada’s obsessions for contemporarily breaking the rules and uniforms.
